The news is full of images of overcrowded boats and tent camps. But how much do we know about what refugees are going through? This film follows a Syrian family on a journey to Germany.
Nadira, an elderly Palestinian, has been a refugee since she was 12. She has to leave Damascus with her daughter Mona and her son Mohie. Filmmaker Khaled Jarrar receives unsettling messages as they cross to Lesbos. He joins them there on the long road to a better life.
Jarrar worms his way through the crowds. He gets lost in the night with his group and wanders around in the dehumanizing camps. And in a sense, he—along with the viewer— becomes a true member of this family.
