Festival history
From 1973 Danish film director Peter Elsass travelled to South America on a regular basis. He went there about fourteen times in all, staying among the last two Indian tribes who are still living according to traditional social structures. The Motilon Indians, living in the lowlands of Venezuela, have an anarchistic society. Family structures play an important role in determining each member's freedom of movement. Conversely, the Archuaco Indians from the mountainous regions in the north of Colombia have given their social structure a strictly hierarchic order. JORDEN ER VORES MOR sheds some light on the past of these two tribes by showing how they have managed to survive this long by living according to traditional structures. The film also raises the question which of the tribes will best be able to stand its ground, now that Western influences are rapidly advancing.
