Festival history
For almost a year, Marijke Jongbloed investigated an invisible world of desire, dreams and fantasies – the world of the online dater. The Netherlands currently numbers more than one million virtual daters, a group that is still growing explosively, not to mention the large number of curious website tourists and voyeurs occasionally visiting these sites. The large group of paying members is comprised of many recidivists. Is this new game addictive to them? Or is an exciting movie playing inside their heads that is not comparable to reality? How do you manipulate word and image on the Internet to get what you want? How does online chemistry work? How do swindlers entice unsuspecting web surfers to their windows? Could it be a romantic escape from a boring marriage? Through the candid and often moving statements by very different personalities, the listener travels back and forth through virtual reality, which has its own laws and codes, and gets to know the psyche of its users.
