Festival history
The remote village of Los Pereyra is located in a vast woodland in northern Argentina called El Impenetrable. Here, an isolated community lives off the land without electricity or landline telephones. The children can attend the local elementary school, but those who want to continue studying are forced to leave Los Pereyra. Five days a year, the lives of the villagers are dominated by a visit from the "godmothers," a group of students from a private school in the distant capital of Buenos Aires. Each year, they come to the village on a charitable excursion and spend time with the children -- they bring them gifts, play with them, and go on walks together. follows life in the village before and during this annual event. The children longingly look forward to the arrival of the students, for their visit changes everything, if only for a little while. A bit of city life forces itself upon the village, and the children get a glimpse of what can be found outside of Los Pereyra -- things they can usually only dream about.
