I have said and written so much about Joris Ivens and IDFA screens his films so often that here I would like to present him briefly and distinctly with LE PLUS PETIT CHAPITEAU DU MONDE, a superb short side-film of A VALPARAISO. The small circus tent is on a small plateau right at the top of that city and a whirlwind of life is blowing through it, the fragrant wind that blows through all of Ivens's best work and that inspires me again and again.
