Workshops and training programs for emerging filmmakers
To stimulate new talent and high level documentary production, IDFA organizes IDFAcademy for emerging filmmakers, and DocLab Academy for interactive media artists. Outside the festival, IDFAcademy also organizes the IDFAcademy Summer School and workshops for Dutch-speaking participants.
IDFAcademy during the festival
Every November during the festival, IDFAcademy offers an intensive four-day training program for emerging documentary filmmakers and producers from all over the world. In addition to a comprehensive introduction to the festival, IDFAcademy participants also learn first-hand about the professional market and key industry players. Film students are not eligible for the IDFAcademy.

DocLab Academy is an international five-day program for new talent in the field of documentary storytelling and interactive media. Via guidance from new media pioneers, the program immerses participants in exclusive workshops on virtual reality and interactive storytelling, portfolio reviews, and one-on-one meetings.
