IDFA for professionals
With over 3,000 professional guests every year, including hundreds of filmmakers bringing their latest works to Amsterdam, IDFA is the most important meeting place for the documentary industry.
Alongside the festival, two documentary markets take place every November. Docs for Sale presents the latest creative documentaries on the market, attracting TV buyers, distributors, and festival programmers from all over the world. The co-financing and co-production market IDFA Forum connects independent filmmakers and producers with potential financiers, funds, co-producers, and other documentary stakeholders to help realize their films. Our growing Industry Program offers talks, sessions, and consultancies to keep our guests up to date on the latest developments in the documentary industry. IDFA's new media program DocLab has become one of the festival’s pillars, including a host of industry events such as the Interactive Conference, Immersive Network, DocLab Academy, and various talks.
Beyond the festival grounds, IDFA leads a number of year-round industry activities. The IDFA Bertha Fund stimulates and empowers the documentary sector in Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Middle East, and parts of Eastern Europe by providing development, production, and distribution grants. To stimulate new talent and high level documentary production, IDFAcademy offers workshops and training programs for up-and-coming filmmakers from around the world.
