In Memoriam: Sonja Barend (1940-2026)

IDFA is deeply saddened by the passing of Sonja Barend. From 2009 through 2017, she was a valued member of the IDFA board.
With her keen insight, dedication, and warm personality, she made significant contributions to the festival's development. Sonja was critical when necessary, but above all, she was devoted and genuinely committed.
We are grateful for all that she did for IDFA and will miss her dearly. Our thoughts are with her family and loved ones. We wish them much strength and comfort as they cope with this loss.
