IDFA DocLab explores how documentary can take forms beyond conventional film. Just as filmmakers once developed the language of cinema, DocLab gives a new generation of artists space to experiment with new ways of telling stories and engaging with reality.
Founded in 2007, DocLab brings together art, technology, and nonfiction across interactive and immersive forms, including digital storytelling, virtual reality, live performance, and artificial intelligence. Internationally, it has become a leading platform for the development and presentation of interactive documentary work and critical thinking around technology.
DocLab combines a public festival program of exhibitions, performances, and live events with year-round activities for artists and professionals, including the DocLab Forum and annual R&D Summit.
