About DocLab
IDFA Doclab is IDFA's platform for interactive, immersive and emerging forms of documentary. We work with artists and researchers exploring new ways or engaging with reality through installations, performances, digital art, games, VR, AI and other evolving forms.
What is DocLab?
Documentary is not limited to film. It can be something you enter, play, navigate, perform or experience together with others. Since 2007, IDFA DocLab has explored how artists use emerging technologies and interdisciplinary forms to rethink documentary storytelling and our relationship to reality. New Media is IDFA’s broad category for documentary practices beyond conventional film. IDFA DocLab is the platform through which IDFA presents, supports, connects and researches this work.

What to expect?
During the IDFA festival in November you can experience a diverse line-up of interdisciplinary works in the DocLab exhibition. DocLab presents work across recurring formats such as VR, fulldome, installation, digital art, games and performance, while also embracing projects that cross or challenge those categories.
