IDFA 2025 festival report
IDFA is projected to welcome a total of 255,000 visits in 2025. The 38th edition of the festival attracted 165,000 visitors from the general audience and school groups—a growth of around 2% compared to 2024. Attendance for IDFA’s professional program reached approximately 30,000 visits, with over 2,500 film professionals participating this year. Throughout the year, IDFA is expected to generate around 60,000 additional visits. The final visitor numbers will be known at the end of January 2026.

Press conference
The annual press conference was recorded at IDFA's permanent home, Het Documentaire Paviljoen, in Amsterdam. Here, IDFA's new artistic director Isabel Arrate Fernandez unveiled the main competition programs and the three short films that together formed IDFA's opening program this year. Caspar Sonnen, Head of IDFA New Media, announced the DocLab program. And Joost Daamen, Head of Programming, discussed the program sections outside the competitions.
