IDFA Meets ACFP: Climate Action Workshop
IDFA Meets ACFP: Climate Action Workshop
Description
As a follow-up to the screening of Once Upon a Time in a Forest, this workshop offers a first introduction to climate activism and the principles of Non-Violent Direct Action (NVDA). Led by Koen Lemaire (Scientist Rebellion), participants will explore both the personal and political motivations behind acts of civil disobedience. Through interactive exercises and dialogue, the workshop provides insight into the ethical and practical considerations involved in taking direct action.

About Koen Lemaire and Scientist Rebellion
Koen Lemaire is an assistant-professor of Biomechanics at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. Motivated by a sense of powerlessness in his role as a scientist, he joined Scientist Rebellion, an international movement of researchers and academics deeply concerned about the climate and ecological crisis. They believe that civil disobedience by scientists can play a crucial role in increasing pressure on governments to take urgent climate action.
