Mijn ouders en ik

When Gerrit van Elst decided to move to Amsterdam and become a filmmaker, it put pressure on his loving relationship with his parents. Back in 1975, he made Mijn ouders en ik, a candid and emotional film in which he and his folks try to understand each other, and let each other go. In 2005, Van Elst integrated the original documentary into a new portrait of his elderly parents: Ik en mijn ouders - mijn ouders en ik.
