Menin pirim Almanbet

The 35-year-old Ryspek lives by himself in an unadorned, empty house in a small Kirghiz village. He is not a good housekeeper, as a result of which the house becomes dirty. His prospects are not all too brilliant. Reality is hard, but dreams can provide a way out. Ryspek remembers a prophetic myth by the legendary poet Saakbaj Karalajew. Why shouldn't the legend come true for once? For a moment it seems to do so, but presently the magic fades again, leaving a desperate Ryspek behind. Ernest Abdushaparov, teacher of Russian language and literature, made his debut last year with the short film SEELKINTSCHEK, which was awarded a prize at the Locarno festival. With I BOW BEFORE THE SPIRIT OF ALMANBET he wants to bring to life the atmosphere of traditional Kirghiz legends.
