Festival history
This is one of the shortest film at this year's festival. It lasts only eight minutes, but nevertheless deals vividly with a universal problem. The subject is loneliness and the search for love and companionship. Gösta is a dog, a friend of a fifty-something man who has broken up with his boyfriend and experiences tremendous loneliness. Friends called him less and less. He felt abandoned. But then he found comfort and friendship in Gösta, who is always there for him. Sequences of them going for a drive together and playing on the beach are shot in the poetic style of old movies, with a yellow filter and music that evokes the past and nostalgia. This tale of a man and his dog emphasizes everything love is about. Playing with a dog, taking care of him and cheering him up when he has a sad moment can make a man happy.
