Festival history
When he was twelve, Levente Fülöp went away with a man who had asked his parents for a farm hand. Levente moved from Parajd to Atyha, two villages in Transsylvania. At first, his boss thought he was too small, but he was pleased with Levente’s obedience and dedication. Levente was glad to be away from his drinking father, who couldn’t keep his hands to himself. What would be seen as child labour in the Netherlands is freedom to Levente. Most of his nine brothers and sisters are in an orphanage. Fifteen-year-old Levente is now lonely and misses his brothers and sisters. He has only been in school for two years and would like to improve his reading. Still, his dream lies where he has to work so hard now: the Transsylvanian countryside. One day, he hopes to have saved enough money for his own farm. Director Moharos Attila, who makes his debut with S IMMÁR ITT VAGYOK, needs only sixteen minutes to put across the bond between Levente and the picturesquely beautiful landscape of Transsylvania. In magnificent panoramas, dark clouds drift ominously over green hills and valleys. Levente drives past with horse and cart, dreaming of his future.
