Festival history
There are many Afghan refugees living in Iran. Their children are not allowed to attend school. 67-year-old Iranian Nezhat Hassan Nia decided to help them and opened her house to 35 Afghan children, whom she teaches and guides. This is a trying task, and sometimes Nezhat has to fight her fatigue. Many of the children have traumatic memories of their lives in Afghanistan. They often quarrel, because they belong to different population groups that were on a war footing in Afghanistan. Nezhat, who to her distress has not seen her own children or grandchildren in a very long time, tries to teach the children that everybody is equal. Everyone has the same dose of homesickness, and bickering does not solve anything.
