Festival history
The year is 2055. Las Vegas has vanished under sandstorms; Sydney is on fire and ski lifts dangle uselessly in the scorching heat. The world as we know it no longer exists. Somewhere on the North Pole, our world archive is located, filled with art, books and scientific reports. What has happened in the years following 2008? An archivist, played by actor Pete Postlethwaite, shows us, using the available "archive footage". "Why didn't we stop climate change while we had the chance?", he wonders. With his digital interface, he brings in the news archive, with items on climate events, animations and documentary portraits from across the globe. He explains that the "current" situation is based on the choices we made until 2015. The archivist shows the stories of an Indian airline owner and a mountain guide demonstrating what the climate change did to the ski resorts. A British windfarm developer vainly devotes himself to windmills as alternative energy sources. In intervals, Postlethwaite recapitulates and argues that we can still do something. He suggests solutions and draws conclusions, substantiated by scientific research.
