Festival history
In the American town of Flint, the major part of the population used to be employed by General Motors. Since the massive reorganisations of this firm, the town is especially known for its towering unemployment. In this hilarious documentary, filmmaker Michael Moore, who was born in Flint, sets out to arrange an interview with General Motors top executive Roger Smith, to confront him with the consequences of his policy. The spectator knows in advance that this interview will never take place. But even when Moore decides to just hang around in Flint, it is obvious that he does not intend to let General Motors off the hook. He not only fathoms the manipulative public relations of the large concern, but also fights back with the same methods. Revenge is sweet, a familiar phrase, but it is good to know that it can also be amusing.
