Festival history

The everyday world of Kallo "Blacky" Mijah is dusty and barren, but in his dreams anything can happen. He is seven or eight years old and his mother abandoned him a while back - apparently, she was badly shaken up after getting beaten by her husband. In a roadside café, Kallo clears off tables and mops the floor. He dreams of one day becoming very rich by begging, but "If I beg, there are people who will catch me and sell me to others, you understand?" He would also like to be a singer, so his mother could hear his song. After all, he spends his days waiting around for her to come back. The film follows Kallo in his surroundings, doing the things he does. His own voice provides the commentary. He continues to hope for his mother's return. "I don't stop dreaming," he says resolutely. "I keep the dreams with me all the time.
