Between 1976 and 1982 around 30,000 people disappeared under the dictatorial regime of Argentina. Although it is well-known that the Argentinean militias brutally killed men, women and children, the fate of many remains unclarified to this day. Everybody has seen the pictures of Argentinean mothers meeting in the Plaza de Mayo every day to draw attention to their families‘ fate. Without ignoring the political aspect in the film MADRES, this documentary tries to offer a more in-depth view of the ‘Madres de Plaza de Mayo’. What do their lives look like after the loss of a child? Have they learned to accept the inevitable? Four mothers talk about their fears and dreams.
