The City of Amersfoort invited twelve international artists to make a piece of art for the ‘Verborgen Zone’, part of the city‘s new Kattenbroek quarter. Starting point for the ambitious urban art project was the medieval allegory of Polyphilos. On a long journey this Italian monk falls asleep. In his dream he visits places where the unusual is usual. In accordance with this story, the artists were assigned to integrate their work in the scenery and in the architecture of the quarter. Filmmakers Maartje Seyferth and Victor Nieuwenhuijs also used the dream as a leitmotif for the film verborgen zone. The documentary concentrates on the Rotterdam-based Indian architect Ashok Bhalotra, who recently finished his contribution to the project.
