Guest of Honor Talk: Wang Bing

IDFA 2023 celebrates documentary filmmaker and artist Wang Bing and his oeuvre as this year's Guest of Honor. As Guest of Honor, Wang Bing will give an extensive Talk led by IDFA's Artistic Director Orwa Nyrabia on November 10 at the Royal Theater Tuschinski. This talk will be simultaneously translated via individual headsets and live subtitled on screen.

This year's Guest of Honor Wang Bing, an uncompromising voice of present-day Chinese filmmaking, lauded for his tenacity of vision and innovative prowess, will be celebrated in a Retrospective program.

Festival-goers will also have the opportunity to discover Wang Bing's Top 10, handpicked by Wang Bing himself, featuring films by independent Chinese filmmakers that represent a wave of filmmaking rarely shown internationally. The selection includes the IDFA Bertha Fund-supported Last Train Home by Lixin Fan, a film about millions of factory workers who travel home every year for the Spring Festival.
