One of IDFA’s unique qualities is the combination of a festival aimed at the general public, attracting large audiences, with more than 3,000 international documentary professionals who gain knowledge, do business, network and pick up inspiration at the festival. IDFA has two markets for professionals: Forum and Docs for Sale. 

Forum
Forum is an international co-finance and co-production market at which more than 60 projects are presented to financiers and distributors each year. Forum is an event featuring a worldwide selection of high-quality creative documentary projects. Forum has several categories corresponding to the aims and development and stage of production of the projects. New media projects are presented in the DocLab Forum. The Rough Cut is for projects looking for distribution channels, and the Producers Connection is for projects in search of co-producers. Finally, the Pitch Category is for projects in pre-production looking for finance from Funds, platforms and broadcasters.  

Docs for Sale    
Docs for Sale is an online market offering more than 400 new documentaries a year, which can be watched on demand by subscribers all year round. During the festival, Docs for Sale has a physical location where documentaries can be watched and where knowledge can be gathered, networks expanded and business done.
