I got my first gun, it was hard. My body was shaking, I was scared. Then it became a joy to have a gun and kill. I was feeling really good." The roguish looking 15-year-old Madeleine lost count of how many people she killed during the civil war in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Now she is in New York to file a complaint at the United Nations. She feels that she is a victim. The rebels of Thomas Lubanga recruited her, raped her, forced her to use drugs and pressured her to kill, while the world stood by and watched. "What did we do to deserve this tragedy?" she asks her audience at the UN. When Madeleine receives a warm applause, tears well up in her eyes.
