His voice is husky and marked by age. His profession is plain and simple: a cab driver in Buenos Aires. His past is unusual. In the seventies, Angel Belisario Gutierrez was a member of the revolutionary labour party’s People Revolutionary Army. In their thousands, they took to the Argntinean streets during historic protest marches. Effigies of Uncle Sam were burned. The front row of marchers carried banners through the city proclaiming INDULTO (‘acquittal’). Incorporating archive footage and witness accounts, director Adrian Jaime tells the story of Gutierrez, who still must reveal it in guarded terms. The film not only describes the violence under the military dictatorship, but portrays an emotional life. A real question arises: why is someone prepared to put his life at stake for a cause? ‘We lost with dignity. We did what we promised. I miss my comrades.’
