Festival history
The sound-track of this film consists of a monologue by Robert Wolfgang Schnell. His voice speaks on behalf of the landscape. Words uttered by a channel are superimposed on images of a desolate fishing village on the East Frisian coast. The channel tells its story in a poetical manner while observing the inhabitants of the village. The images lead from the sea to the village, they show the people, the fishermen and their boats, the local bar, and they return to the sea again. By using an identical camera movement, the beginning and end of this movie are linked together as in a cycle, thus emphasizing the timeless character of the landscape.
