This dramatic story, full of amazing turns and exciting music, starts innocently with artistic preparations for a musical full of gypsy music. Many musicians come to Prague to participate in the show. But they are still trying to find a singer for the theme song. By chance Ida Kelarova, the musical director of the show, hears the recording of a 12-year-old gypsy girl from Slovakia and is astonished by her powerful and beautiful voice. The next day, she is on the road looking for the girl. She finds Vierka living with her brothers and parents in extremely poor conditions. The family immediately agrees to move from Slovakia to the Czech Republic, and goes to live with the musical director's family. She provides for their food, clothes, school and even some paid work. The girl gets better in school, and her brothers excel in these improved circumstances. Some contracts for the upcoming concerts are drawn up, they sing and dance all day long and they all learn English, although half of the family is illiterate. It would seem that things are great, until the day that everything turns upside down for the tremendously gifted Vierka.
