Festival history
At age nineteen, Greta Ferusic was deported to Auschwitz. Fifty years later she was one of the people who were determined to defy the war in former Yugoslavia and stay in Serajevo, in spite of hunger and violence. ‘I belong to this city. Let what happens to other people also happen to me!‘ Greta is a film about a remarkable woman. The film calls to mind the Holocaust and tells the modern war history of Serajevo. In particular it is a film about values that enable people to preserve their faith in life under horrible conditions. Haris Pasovic (Serajevo, 1961) made various TV productions. During the siege of Serajevo he was the director and initiator of the first Serajevo Film Festival in 1993.
